These are STR-A-A-A-A-NGE times indeed! But if you are still wanting/needing to marry, and are happy to abide by the 5-person ruling as outlined below, please read on ..

The 5-person rule (as of 25/03/2020)

Victorian celebrants have been advised of the following:

“the solemnisation of a marriage is to occur with a maximum attendance of no more than five people, being the two parties, the authorised marriage celebrant, and the two witnesses. Social distancing of 1 person per 4 square metres is to be enforced. This applies to marriages both indoors and outdoors.”

NOTE: This does not include people looking through windows, hanging off balconies, or out of trees, or any other creative ways you can think of to have your wedding seen by others.

These are not my rules, they are the law.

So, what can I offer you?

FIRST OPTION: Yvonne Wood Marriage Celebrant

This can be as romantic, personal and intimate as you desire 😊

You can wear your dream wedding dress, have a wedding photographer (must be a witness though, to comply with the law; you can even have a wedding cake – and eat it too!!)

  • The Notice of Intended Marriage is completed and witnessed at my home office in Nunawading one month – or more – before the wedding date. ID documents are verified at this time
  • One month – or more – later a ceremony is held either in my office, or at your place – preferably outdoors, but not necessarily.
  • This would be a full ceremony with music, a Giving Away or Acknowledgement of Parents/Children, an Asking (where you say “I do”), personal vows a Ring Exchange, a reading or 2 and any ritual/s that you would like to include. As well as the 2 legal components – your Legal Vows and The Monitum.
  • Live streaming (if required) – however the videographer would need to be a witness to comply with the law.
  • The fee charged would depend on how many of these options you choose to include but prices start at $495.

SECOND OPTION: Registry Style Weddings Eastern

This is very much a “no-frills” service.

  • The Notice of Intended Marriage is completed and witnessed at my home office in Nunawading one month – or more – before the wedding date. ID documents are verified at this time
  • One month – or more – later, you return to my office and we say the basic 124 legally required words and sign the rest of the official paperwork
  • Cost is $275 – at my office
  • Or $375 at your place – depending on distance – to be negotiated with each couple
  • Any extra components to the ceremony would incur an extra charge – to be negotiated beforehand.

Of course all of the above is conditional upon all participants (including me – and my husband, with whom I reside) being free of Covid-19 symptoms and being fit and well on the day.

All social distancing rules current at the time will be observed and, as difficult as it will be, I will not be engaging in hugging or handshaking.

I also ask that you bring your own pen (plus anything else that you require to be used in the ceremony
